Everything in life is product of design, and I often wonder how new design or new ideas are constructed. For creatives, it is a way of life and inspiration comes from everything and anything. I am on a constant journey to discovery about design in every aspect of life, and these videos made me think more about the way I design my life. Is it function? Sustainability? Fantasy? Popularity? Image? I believe there is room for everything, as long as we don’t get bogged down with materialistic things and focus on designing a lifestyle rather than an image.

After some good conversations with Igor during his visit, not to my surprise, he left me with something to ponder (many mind blowing and eye-opening topics were discussed). It is always a little saddening to see good friends leave, but Igor’s visit gave me new information to explore and share with others. We have had the chance to discuss fractals before and the more I think about the world in this manner, the more it makes sense to me! Everything in this world is interconnected and part of a bigger evergrowing system that we cannot even fathom.

As a new teacher, I feel like this is some of the information that we should be sharing with young minds. This little video, although still a little more than I can quite comprehend, is a great example of possibilities of addressing this topic in schools. Check it out, and see if it blows your mind a little like it did mine. There is much research to be done on this topic, and I’ve only just begun.

Situated in Madrid, Hotel Puerta America brings global design to life as it unifies cultures, architecture and freedom of design. Each of the 13 floors have been designed by 13 prominent architects, that are as different in their designs as they are in nationalities. The architecture is bold and it aims to provide an experience beyond the expected. The moto of the hotel is “originality, luxury, innovation and formal freedom define a hotel that awakens guests’ senses.” Although I would be more than happy to stay in any of the rooms, if I had to choose, I would pick floor #7 by Ron Arad.

Hey, one out of two ain’t bad!!!

This French/Belgian/Canadian/British film was directed and written by Sylvain Chomet. The dialogue is minimalistic, leaving the film to rely on its catchy tunes and pantomime to tell the story. Bruno the dog and Grandma are left to find her kidnapped grandson, who happens to be training for Tour de France. Once grandma gets to Paris, she comes teams up with the quirky, strange and very self-sufficient Triplets de Belleville to help find her grandson.

The music kept me singing for years!! To this day I find my self mumbling “voo doo ka-ka, dum dum dum dum daaa”. I’m sure these aren’t the words, but it’s been tattooed in my brain this way. I love the songs!! Erin, this one’s for you.

I am sooo excited to see this! As soon as Mark showed me the trailer for Catfish, I was hooked. I can usually predict the endings to movies (not bragging, it sucks actually), but this one has me perplexed.

Lou Doillon captures the 70′s bobmbshell look with  nonchalant grace. Ever since my friend Erin introduced me to her I’ve admired her ability to stay true to her own personal style; one that reminds me of my mom’s younger days. For as long as I can remember I used to stare at pictures of my mom, wearing highwasted wide leg jeans, vests, flowy pastel colored dresses and shoes I would kill for now. As I grow older, I can see my self gravitating towards clothing that resembles my mom’s classic 70′s style. Now I look to Lou’s re-invented and fresh interpretation of the style I just can’t get enough of… and apprently I’m not the only one!

Lou is absolutely captivating, in both style and personality. Check out a video made by Stephanie Di Giusto for Vanessa Bruno’s Spring-Summer collection. It features Lou Doillon, who also happens to be the muse and now label owner of LouDoillon.
